Speaker: Mr. Fred Mlakar MS, CIH, CSP – OCAIHA President

Fred Mlakar, (MS CIH CSP)  former steelworker and steel mill industrial hygienist for the Kaiser steel manufacturing plant that operated in Fontana from 1942 to 1983, will describe the steel making processes — coke ovens,  blast furnaces, open hearth and rolling mills — and their industrial hygiene aspects from a historical and personal perspective.

 

Mr. Mlakar has over 35 years of diverse experience in occupational and environmental health and safety including over 20 years of supporting hazardous waste site investigation and remediation projects. He has extensive working knowledge of OSHA, Cal/OSHA, and USACE EM 385 1-1 requirements. Mr. Mlakar has also managed and provided industrial hygiene and safety services on a consultative basis to leading companies in petrochemicals, electronics, aerospace, construction and manufacturing, as well as the U.S. Departments of Defense and Energy, the State of California, and county and municipal agencies.
