10th Annual ASSE/AIHA Joint Meeting Dedicated to the Late Charles Sandberg
At the annual joint breakfast meeting in 2003, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was drafted and signed by the presidents and president-elects of both organizations. The MOU was intended to demonstrate a commitment by each organization to work together and pool resources when pursuing common goals. Charles Sandberg was an original signatory of the MOU as president of OCAIHA at the time.
Two years ago, the joint meeting was dedicated to past OCAIHA president, and former OCASSE chapter officer, Charles Sandberg, who had recently passed away. Charles was a member of both organizations, and he recognized the benefit of these two organizations working in concert to promote professionalism in our respective fields and to better protect worker health and safety.
Moving forward, this annual meeting shall be known as The Charles Sandberg Memorial Joint Breakfast Meeting.

Since 1973, Cal-OSHA Reporter has been a friend and partner to California’s occupational safety and health community. Through good times and bad, from natural disasters to Cal/OSHA “disengagement,” it has provided important information to the community.
Now that California is feeling the full force of economic disaster, we want to support our friends in California chapters of the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) and American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) who have been laid off or who have been part of a reduction in force. An estimated 15% of California safety personnel have lost their jobs..
